About Murchison Falls – Guaranteed adventure on Hiking and guided nature walks in Murchison Falls

The famous Murchison Falls, also known as Kabalega Falls, are waterfalls between Lake Kyoga and Lake Albert on the Victoria Nile in Uganda. The waterfalls are regarded as the world’s strongest waters thus a safari here will count.

At the top of Murchison Falls, the Nile forces its way through a gap in the rocks, with only 7 meters width, and tumbles 43 meters deep before flowing westward into Lake Albert. The outlet of Lake Victoria sends around 300 cubic meters per second of water over the falls that squeeze into a gorge less than 10 meters wide wow. This, therefore, makes the waterfalls the strongest in the world and one of Uganda’s most celebrated natural wonders.

The Water Falls are a subject of history as some historians believe that a party of Roman legionaries dispatched by Nero may have reached the Murchison Falls in 61 AD, but there is major controversy about the feasibility of what would have been a very difficult achievement. The natural wonder was first sighted by Sir. Samuel Baker and Florence Baker.

Samuel Baker and Florence Baker were the first Europeans who definitely sighted the waterfalls and thus remembered for that. The waterfalls were named by Baker and were named after Roderick Murchison, the President of the Royal Geographical Society. Murchison Falls is a must-visit while on safaris in Uganda – for unmatched safari experiences that can be more spiced by the different wildlife species and plant species found within the Murchison Falls Conservation Area.

Hiking and guided nature walk in Murchison Falls with Acacia Safaris Limited will unleash your African safari imagination – spiced with the verdant valleys and escarpments with a scenic view that will truly blow your mind.
